We provide orthotic services at University Hospital Lewisham and Queen Elizabeth Hospital.
Our Orthotics department (also known as Surgical Appliances) provides a range of appliances, such as knee supports, stockings, wigs and pocketed bras to patients to help them recover from injury or improve the quality of life for people with with lifelong conditions.
We provide a range of Orthotics services, including the supply and fitting of:
- Orthopaedic footwear
- Insoles
- Ankle/foot orthoses
- Splints
- Surgical collars
- Specialist support/compression stockings
- Breast prosthesis and wigs.
Conditions we can treat
We provide a range of appliances to help patients with conditions, including:
- Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) – a blood clot in one of the deep veins in the body
- Osteoarthritis (OA)
- Rheumatoid arthritis
- Leg length discrepancy
- Flat feet
- Alopecia
- Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (CTS) – a condition that causes pain, numbness and a tingling sensation in the hand and fingers
- Back pain

We can accept referrals from:
- Consultants at our hospitals
- Physiotherapists
- GPs in our catchment areas of Greenwich and Lewisham
- The musculoskeletal (MSK) pathway
