Information about our services

Cardiology services

Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm

We offer a range of outpatient cardiology diagnostics including:

  • Ambulatory electrocardiography (Holter monitoring)
  • Ambulatory blood pressure monitoring
  • 24-hour ECG tapes
  • Echocardiography (Echo)

You may be asked to wear some of these devices at home and then return to the clinic for analysis.

CT scanning

  • Monday to Sunday 8am to 8pm

MRI scanning

  • Wednesday to Sunday 8am to 8pm

Blood tests (phlebotomy)

  • Monday to Friday, 8am to 6pm
  • Saturday, 8am to 2pm

Our blood testing service is available for patients aged 12 and over.

Please bring your blood test form with you, as there is no facility to print forms at the CDC. Your GP will provide this form, and without it, we may not be able to perform your blood test. This could result in your appointment needing to be rescheduled.

Please also bring your appointment confirmation text or email.

If you have a referral for a blood test, you can book an appointment online for Eltham Community Hospital CDC and other local clinics or call 020 8333 3217 to book via telephone. Visit our Book a blood test page to learn more

Respiratory diagnostics

  • Monday to Friday, 8am – 6pm

We provide a variety of lung function outpatient tests including:

  • Fractional Expiratory Nitric Oxide (FeNO)
  • Full lung function tests
  • Spirometry with bronchodilator response
  • Spot check pulse oximetry

Your tests will be carried out by one of our respiratory physiologists to measure how well your lungs are working.

It normally takes 30 to 45 minutes to complete depending on the number of tests your clinician will need to perform.

The person you see will check your recent medical history to make sure it’s safe to perform the test and will explain the tests to you.

During your assessment they will measure how well oxygen moves around in your blood and how efficiently carbon dioxide is expelled.

You will sit in front of a machine and breathe through a sterile mouthpiece while wearing a nose clip. The physiologist will explain these tests to you.

Sleep studies

The sleep study clinic provides devices to check your breathing and heartbeat while you sleep. You will be asked to wear these overnight and then return the device.

Ultrasound

  • Monday to Friday 8am to 6pm

X-ray

  • Monday to Friday, 9am-12.15pm and 1pm - 4.30pm

You do not need an appointment; please visit us any time during opening hours and book in at CDC reception.

Getting your results

Your images, study results or samples will be analysed by our specialist teams and we will send your results to the doctor or GP who requested your test.

We may sometimes need to get more than one test result to understand and confirm your diagnosis.

The doctor or GP who referred you will review your results together before discussing them with you.

Waiting for your results

When you have your test, our team will let you know how long you can expect to wait to get your results.

Waiting times will vary depending on the type of test you have had, the urgency of your referral and whether additional tests are needed.

What to do if your results are late

If you have not heard back from us within the time that was discussed with you, please contact the doctor or GP who referred you. We are not able to provide results directly to patients.
