Our Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy teams assess and treat patients with temporary or permanent disabilities. Our goal is to help you improve your physical functions and prevent further issues.
Physiotherapy uses physical approaches to promote, maintain and restore physical, psychological and social well-being, taking account of variations in health status.
Physiotherapy
We offer physiotherapy to patients in hospital in our outpatient clinics at assorted GP practices in the Royal Borough of Greenwich.
We provide inpatient physiotherapy in orthopaedics, respiratory medicine, the intensive care unit, medical wards, surgical wards and other areas.

Our service offers appointments according to clinical needs and prioritises referrals into urgent and routine.
Occupational therapy
Our Occupational Therapy department covers all of the adult inpatient wards at Queen Elizabeth hospital with specialities including:
- Acute Medicine
- Orthopaedics
- Care of Older Adults
- Neurology
- Emergency department and Acute Medical Unit.

How to get a referral
You can be referred to our outpatient departments by consultants, your GP or another health professionals such as a specialist nurse or an occupational therapists. If you feel that you require physiotherapy, we recommend discussing this with your GP.
If you are an inpatient, the physiotherapist on the ward may refer you for further treatment after you are discharged from hospital.
