DFN Project SEARCH

DFN Project SEARCH is a one-year transition to work programme for young adults with a learning disability or autism spectrum conditions, or both.

Since September 2022 we have partnered with DFN Project SEARCH and registered charity Unity Works to offer interns, who are students of Newhaven School, placements with a variety of teams at Queen Elizabeth Hospital throughout the academic year.

What interns gain from the programme

Interns who join the programme will have opportunites to build a future in the NHS through hands-on experience in a range of non-clinical departments.

They will develop practical skills in departments such as Estates and Facilities, front and back of house services, pharmacy, post rooms, patient transport, chaplaincy and more.

Whilst working with us, interns will complete a Level 1 qualification which focuses on CV writing, interview techniques, applying for jobs to prepare them to get into paid employment.

Around 60% of our interns go on to find permanent, meaningful work in the NHS.

This work programme is for young people aged 16-24. Anyone who signs up must have an Participants, aged 16-24 with an Education, Health, and Care Plan (EHCP) or equivalent.
