Employee of the Month for June

Congratulations to Reena Seunath, Lead Cancer Clinical Nurse Specialist for Urology-Oncology at Queen Elizabeth Hospital, who has been chosen as our Employee of the Month for June.

Jenny Hughes, Healthcare Assistant in the Urology Outpatient Clinics at Queen Elizabeth Hospital explained why she nominated her:

“Reena is devoted to her job. She is passionate and consistently goes above and beyond for her patients and colleagues.

"She manages a small team of Urology Clinical Nurse Specialists and 2 Clinical Assistants and is the Lead Urology-Oncology Clinical Nurse Specialist. Recently one of the Urology-Oncology Nurses left the Trust; Reena stepped in and covered both roles while maintaining a cheerful, professional attitude and consistently prioritising the needs of our patients. She has worked through leave, on days off, earlier starts and later finishes. She does this because she loves her job and is very good at it.

"Reena always makes sure her patients feel valued, supported and listened to. Her patient’s welfare always comes first and foremost.

"She is the true definition of a lead nurse, oncology nurse, manager, colleague and patient advocate, and deserves this recognition. When she believes that something needs to be done, she will fight to ensure that her patients' rights and the care of her colleagues are upheld.”

Julie Baker, Macmillan Head of Nursing for Cancer and Haematology and Reena’s colleagues congratulated and presented Reena with a certificate and a fruit basket. Hasan Er, who runs the fruit stall at Queen Elizabeth Hospital, donated the fruit basket.  Reena with her colleagues

A surprised Reena said: "I'm still in disbelief and really appreciative that I won the Employee of the Month Award.  It's a great feeling to receive the title. I have worked at Queen Elizabeth Hospital for 20 years, and I've enjoyed every second of it. I greatly appreciate your acknowledgement of my contributions to the service and would also like to thank my amazing colleagues for their support.”

Ewerton Soares, Account Manager, ISS Facilities who chaired this month’s judging panel commented: “Reena gives her patients and colleagues her all. She and has gone above and beyond her job role while working through leave, on days off, starting early, and finishing late. She has consistently worked to make patients feel appreciated, supported, and listened to, which is in line with the Trust values, and we believe that she has demonstrated dedication to doing so.”
