LGT Stars of the Month August
Congratulations to the Production Team in the Hospital Sterilisation and Decontamination Unit (HSDU) at Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH), our LGT Stars of the Month for August.
The HSDU plays a vital role in keeping our hospitals running safely, providing essential decontamination services for the instruments and equipment used in medical and surgical procedures across LGT.
The Production Management Team were nominated for the All Stars Team Award. Here’s why they deserve this special recognition.
“Sylvester Obianke, Bolanle Fagunwa, and Tunde Kardas have shown outstanding dedication, teamwork, and leadership during an exceptionally demanding period.
"Their commitment has helped keep an essential service running safely and smoothly, ensuring that medical devices were reprocessed, quality-checked, and available when needed for patient care. What stands out is the way they supported not only the service, but each other. They stepped up when needed, embraced additional responsibilities, and continued to approach every task with professionalism, care, and attention to detail.
"Their positive attitude, expertise, and commitment to patient safety have made a genuine difference to colleagues, the department, and ultimately the patients we serve.
"Their contribution is a great example of NHS values in action: putting patients first, supporting one another, and striving for excellence every day."
The team were was congratulated by their colleagues and presented with a certificate, a £100 voucher from LGT, and a fruit basket kindly donated by Hasan Er, who runs the fruit stall at Queen Elizabeth Hospital.
The Production Team said: “Winning LGT Star of the Month means a lot to us, and we’re very grateful for the recognition. We’d like to thank everyone across the team for their hard work and continued support, as every member plays an important part in our success. We’re proud to share this achievement with the whole team and look forward to continuing to support each other and achieve great things together.”
Conrad Maramba, Head of Security and LSMS who chaired this month's judging panel, said: The team demonstrated exceptional commitment during a period of significant staffing shortages, consistently going beyond normal role expectations. Their resilience, strong communication and collaborative approach helped maintain critical quality checks and continuity of sterile-device supply. Their dedication has made a lasting positive impact on patient care and service delivery.”
