Partnership with ISS shortlisted for national award
We are delighted to announce that our partnership with ISS for the Trust’s “soft” facilities management (FM) services has been shortlisted for Health Service Journal’s annual Value Awards, in the category of “Facilities Management or Estates Initiative of the Year”. The HSJ Value Awards 2020 recognise outstanding dedication to making things better in the NHS.
The judging panel is made up of a diverse range of highly regarded figures across the NHS and wider healthcare sector. To be shortlisted as a finalist for these awards, in the face of tough competition, is a mark of real achievement for our Trust and for ISS. This partnership has been selected for its diligence, ambition and the positive impact that it will have for patients, staff and visitors.
Keith Howard, Director of Estates and Facilities (pictured), said: “I’d like to thank all staff involved in the procurement process for soft FM over the last year, as well as our partners at ISS. The contract for soft FM services started last month (February), with ISS now running services for the whole Trust.
“Our previous contracts for soft FM were made several years ago and no longer met the full needs of patients and staff, so the development of a new contract for the Trust represented a big opportunity to make improvements. Following a staff and patient engagement programme to review our requirements, ISS is investing £4m in introducing changes that staff will see over coming weeks and months – including new catering equipment, more wheelchairs for patients, and better technology to make it easier for staff to call for porter and cleaners.
“We’re delighted that these improvements are being introduced without costing more. In fact there are some costs savings which will help protect our frontline healthcare staff roles at Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust.”
