NHS Choir, Rag‘n’Bone Man and P!nk gain top 10 hit!

Following their performance at the BRIT Awards last week (Tuesday 11 May), Rag ‘n’ Bone Man, P!nk and the Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Choir helped achieve number 9 in the UK Official Charts with their version of ‘Anywhere Away from Here’.

All proceeds from the special version of song – which is available to download on iTunes and Amazon Music – go towards NHS Charities Together and the Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Charity.

Choir leader and Children’s Physiotherapist Caroline Smith thanked Rag ‘n’ Bone Man for inviting the choir to take part in the single, and added: “We’ve been completely overwhelmed by the response to the song, and are still pinching ourselves about performing on the Brits and gaining a top 10 hit! It all feels surreal as the choir members are busy NHS professionals who sing on top of our day (and night) jobs. We’re so proud to be representing the NHS and to help raise money for such great causes.”

As well as reaching the top 10, the single gained support on social media from a range of high profile figures, including Dr Alex George, Richard Bacon, Victoria Derbyshire, Matt Haig and Dr Ranj. In a message recorded on YouTube, Ben Travis, Chief Executive of Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust, spoke about his pride in the NHS and urged people to buy the single.
