New children's asthma service

The Trust launches a new community children’s asthma service next week to help families manage their child’s asthma. The service is for children up to the age of 19 who are registered with a Lewisham GP and have a diagnosis of asthma.

“We hope to ensure that your child’s asthma is as well controlled as possible so that it doesn’t get in the way of his or her life,” says community children's asthma nurse specialist Rebecca Kalamchi.

Her colleague, community children's asthma nurse specialist Lesley Turpie, adds: "By helping families and children understand asthma and how to control it, we can ensure that children don’t miss school or end up in hospital.”

Rebecca and Lesley will be based at Kaleidoscope children’s centre and will also run clinics at GP surgeries in Lewisham and visit children in their own homes.
