Get Well Gamers donate to Safari Ward

Patients on Safari children’s ward at Queen Elizabeth Hospital are now enjoying playing video games on a new gaming cart thanks to a generous donation from Get Well Gamers.

The mobile gaming cart has been designed for special use in the NHS and healthcare settings. It can fit any games console, features a monitor and secure storage for the console, games and accessories. The surfaces are also easy to clean to maintain infection prevention and control.

Carol Sullivan-Wallace, Health Play Specialist explained: “Play has definitely changed due to Covid-19 – it has become more isolated for our children and young people who are staying on the ward. To now have this gaming cart has been fabulous, the smiles on our patient's faces while they use it are just brilliant to see.

"There is so much they can access on it too and it really helps take their minds off being in hospital. I would like to say a massive thank you to Richard Thurbon from Get Well Gamers for the donation and for their advice and generosity to us over the years."

Get Well Gamers is a charity that takes donated video games and consoles to hospitals, hospices and other healthcare settings. To find out more about the charity please visit Get well Gamers website.
