Employees of the Month for May

Congratulations to Josh Marshall and Billy Springett, ISS Porters in the Radiology Department at University Hospital Lewisham, who have been chosen as our Employees of the Month for May 2022.

Karen Langley, Ward Administrator in the Radiology Department explained why she nominated them: “Billy and Josh are a great team, who work hard and are exceptionally kind. They are always considerate and respectful to their patients that they transport to the X-ray Department, and if a patient needs help right away, they are there. Our patients are always complimenting Billy and Josh about what great guys they are and how they make them feel comfortable and at ease.”

“Billy and josh are always willing to stay behind even after their shift has ended, to ensure that all scheduled patients are seen in the Radiology Department. They deserve the Employee of the Month award for their consistent hard work and the difference they make to our patients.”

Jan Ferrari, Chair of the Lewisham Patient Welfare Forum, congratulated Josh and Billy and presented them with their certificates. They were also later presented with a fruit basket each, generously donated by Hasan, who runs the fruit stall at Queen Elizabeth Hospital.

A delighted Billy responded: “Josh and I are surprised and very shocked to have won Employees of the Month for May. Thank you to Karen for nominating us. It means a lot to us to have our hard work recognised.”

Jan Ferrari, who chaired this month’s judging panel, commented: “As ever, it was a difficult choice, as all of the nominees deserve recognition. However, good patient care extends beyond clinical staff, and it’s clear that Billy and Josh are playing their part by putting patients at ease when they are no doubt worried about the potential results of scans and X-rays. Cheerful and willing porters can make a big difference to patients, and their nomination for this award shows that’s exactly what they are doing.”
