Asha Hylton stars on CBBC’s Operation Ouch!
Paediatric nurse Asha Hylton from University Hospital Lewisham has been featured on the popular CBBC programme Operation Ouch!, which explores the fascinating world of medicine and biology for young audiences.
The TV crew spent a day with Asha in the Paediatric Emergency Department, showcasing her vital work and the adaptive tools and communication methods she uses in her role. These include an adaptive stethoscope, British Sign Language interpreters, lip-reading and assistive technology.
Asha said: "I had a great time filming on Operation Ouch! I’m proud to represent LGT as a deaf paediatric nurse. There are many colleagues in the NHS who have disabilities, and it’s important that I can speak up and show them that it is possible, it can be done with the right support and access. I’m passionate about caring for children and young people, and many colleagues like me use adaptive technology and sign language to provide excellent care every day."
Congratulations to Asha, we are proud of the exceptional work you do every day at LGT. You can watch the episode now on BBC iPlayer Operation Ouch! - Series 14: 9. What a Rollercoaster! - BBC iPlayer
