Pelvic health physiotherapy (self-referral)
Please note: this self-referral pathway is currently only for patients from Sydenham Green Group practice. This will be reviewed soon and we'll update this information.
You can now refer yourself directly to receive specialist support and/or advice with bladder, bowel and pelvic health problems.
These forms are for anyone aged 16 and over and registered with an NHS GP in the London Borough of Lewisham.
The pelvic health team provide an extremely specialised service, treating a wide variety of conditions including:
- Leaking pee (urinary incontinence)
- Feeling the need to empty the bladder urgently and/or frequently
- Leaking poo (faecal incontinence)
- Leaking farts (flatal incontinence)
- Feeling the need to poo with little warning (faecal urgency)
- Difficulty pooing or emptying your bowel
- A dragging sensation, heaviness or a bulge in the vagina
- Pain with sexual intercourse
- Persistent pain in your vulva, bladder or the pelvic region
- Pregnancy related back or pelvic pain.

Treatment offered include:
- Pelvic floor muscle rehabilitation, exercise therapy, acupuncture
- Bladder and bowel retraining, manual therapy and pessary fitting
- Education, advice and more.
