Urgent Treatment Centre provider change
From Monday 1 June, the Trust will bring management of the Urgent Treatment Centre (UTC) service at University Hospital Lewisham in-house, with responsibility transferring from One Health Lewisham.
The transition to an in-house Urgent Treatment Centre will not change patients access to or experience of care.
Patients will continue to receive the same service, and the existing process of triage and streaming will stay the same, helping ensure patients are prioritised appropriately and treated in the right setting.
The Urgent Treatment Centre will continue to provide same-day treatment for patients who have a range of minor illnesses and injuries, in line with our clinical guidelines around delivering safe and timely care in the right setting.
How to access the Urgent Treatment Centre at Lewisham
The Urgent Treatment Centre is not a walk-in service. All patients who attend the site with urgent care needs must first check in at the Emergency Department (ED).
All patients will be offered an initial assessment and directed (or streamed) to the most appropriate service, which may mean remaining within the Emergency Department, or being treated in the Urgent Treatment Centre.
Our team is supported by professionals from a range of backgrounds including:
-
An Emergency Care Practitioner Lead who oversees Emergency Care Practitioners
-
A General Practitioner (GP) Lead who oversees our team of General Practitioners
-
Advanced Clinical Practitioners (ACPs)
