BRONZE LEVEL TRAINING

If you’re new to QI and are interested in being involved in a project, already are involved, or just want to learn something new, we recommend that you start with one of our Bronze level training courses.

COMPACT QI

This is a regular course run by the LGT QI team. The session is designed to introduce delegates to the basics of quality improvement through a mixture of presentation, video and practical exercises. Delegates will have an opportunity to learn and understand the LGT QI framework – the ‘Model for Improvement’– and how to put it into practice. You do not need to be involved in a QI project to attend Compact QI; however, we expect that anyone leading a QI project would have attended Compact QI or an equivalent training.

Compact QI will continue to run every month, with options to book either virtual or face-to-face sessions. Virtual sessions are half a day, faciliated on Zoom, and face to face sessions are a full day at either Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Woolwich or the University Hospital Lewisham.

The course is open to all employees of Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust and external stakeholders. Please email lg.qi@nhs.net or ring the Quality Improvement Team on 020 8836 6535 if you want to know more.

Upcoming sessions

  • Tuesday, 20th February 2024, 9:00 - 15:30, F2F (QEH)

  • Wednesday, 20th March 2024, 9:15 - 13:30, Virtual

MEASUREMENT FOR IMPROVEMENT WORKSHOP

The Measurement for Improvement workshop is aimed at helping staff from all backgrounds and at all levels to feel more confident in using data to understand the challenges and successes in their areas, and to apply that new knowledge to a quality improvement framework.

The small group size allows for discussion and interaction throughout, as well as the ability to do practical exercises which will allow delegates to gain confidence in creating charts from raw data.

Note that this session is an add on and does not justify a Bronze level certificate on it’s own.

This is a half day course offered Face to face. Please email lg.qi@nhs.net or ring the Quality Improvement Team on 020 8836 6535 if you want to know more.

ENABLING QI AS LEADERS

This is a bi-monthly half-day course run by the LGT QI team for trust leaders and managers. 1. Model the way

  2. Inspire a shared vision

  3. Challenge the process

  4. Enable others to act

  5. Encourage the heart

The course is open to employees of Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust and external stakeholders. Please email lg.qi@nhs.net or ring the Quality Improvement Team on 020 8836 6535 if you want to know more.

GOLD LEVEL TRAINING

IMPROVEMENT COACH SPECIALIST - LEVEL 5 APPRENTICESHIP

In addition to our bite-sized tutorials and shorter courses, we also offer opportunities for long-term development for staff who are interested in being involved in QI on a deeper level.

With well over 100 active QI projects and more than 2,000 staff who have received some form of QI awareness or training, QI is well on its way to being an embedded part of the culture at LGT.

But, in order to keep up with the demand for QI, we need your help! We’re looking for interested staff to ‘go for Gold’ as we launch our new QI Improvement Coach Specialist Training. This high-level training is run by our partners at Lean Enabled Group under the Apprenticeship scheme, level 5. Over the 14 month course you will cover a range of learning about improvement tools including project management, the human factors that affect change and coaching colleagues.

In addition to providing valuable skills for anyone looking to progress in their career, the Gold training will allow you to contribute to QI in an even more meaningful way by helping to coach projects in your division or directorate.
