Trust Choir team up with Met Police for Christmas

Our incredible Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Choir have teamed up with the Metropolitan Police Choir for a version of Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas, which has been shared on YouTube and across social media today (Friday 11 December 2020):

Donations to two charities will be encouraged: Care of Police Survivors (COPS), which has helped hundreds of police families devastated by the loss of a loved one who has died on duty, and global organisation World Child Cancer, who make a huge difference across the world and particularly in low-income countries.

The choirs had originally planned to perform together at a charity fundraising concert in November, but when this was cancelled due to the pandemic, decided to virtually record a track instead.

Caroline Smith, Paediatric Physiotherapist and Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Choir’s coordinator, said: “Working with the Met Police Choir is always a pleasure, so we were all gutted that the pandemic put a stop to our joint concert.

“However, it has been brilliant to combine our voices on this track instead – a great early Christmas present for all involved! We hope the public enjoy listening as much as we enjoyed recording it, and that it raises lots of donations and awareness for World Child Cancer and Care of Police Survivors.”

Met Police Commissioner Cressida Dick said: “I am delighted to support the partnership between the Metropolitan Police Choir and the Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Choir, two outstanding choirs. I am immensely proud of what they have collectively achieved in the face of the pandemic, bringing us all some much needed festive cheer.”

You can donate to either charity by visiting: www.ukcops.org and www.worldchildcancer.org. We hope you enjoy this early Christmas treat!
