New Book & Learn services for people with diabetes

We are pleased to announce a new online service today – which happens to be World Diabetes Day – aimed at helping people living with diabetes to take control of their condition.

Diabetes Book & Learn allows those with Type 2 diabetes to improve their knowledge, skills and confidence by booking onto a wide range of support courses, without the need for a referral from a GP.

The platform couldn’t be easier to use: just enter your location, choose whether you want a face-to-face or remote course and pick the course you want – you can then secure your place with a click.

The courses cover topics like nutrition, insulin management and lifestyle, and have been clinically proven to have a positive effect on the following:

  • Lowering average blood glucose levels, thereby reducing the risk of complications
  • Reducing cholesterol and blood pressure levels
  • Improving levels of physical activity
  • Improving understanding of diabetes and self-management skills
  • Weight reduction

Our Trust serves almost 60,000 people living with Type 2 diabetes at last count – a number that highlights the need for this innovative new service.

The website also brings together information for people living with Type 1 diabetes, such as helpful articles and opportunities for local community support across south London.
