Meet our August LGT Star

Congratulations to Elizabeth Oyedemi-Akinloye, Healthcare Assistant in the Diabetes Clinic at University Hospital Lewisham, who has been named our LGT Star of the Month for August.
Elizabeth was nominated for the Star Player Award, and here is why:
“Elizabeth has been with LGT for over 10 years, was recognised for her exceptional care and initiative. During a Young Adult Clinic session, she identified a vulnerable patient at risk who had arrived without an appointment. Respecting confidentiality while prioritising safety, Elizabeth escalated the case to the Young Adult Diabetes team and ensured the patient received timely support.
"Thanks to her actions, the young person accessed both diabetes care and additional safeguarding support, avoiding a potential Emergency Department admission. Her proactive, person-centred approach highlights how compassion and vigilance can make a real difference."
Elizabeth's colleagues praised her dedication: “A wonderful and caring person who continually goes above and beyond to safeguard our young adults. Amazing recognition of the person we have the privilege to work alone side. Congrats Liz, you are a superstar.”
“I can't think of a more deserving person. Some recognition of the amazing work you do.”
Elizabeth was presented with a certificate and a £100 voucher in recognition of her achievement.
Elizabeth said: "Winning this means a lot to me. It shows that caring and showing compassion are always valued by LGT, specially when supporting vulnerable young adults with medical issues.
"I would like to thank Bethan William and the whole Young Adults Diabetes team for training and empowering me with the knowledge to understand the impact of side effects on young adults.
"To my outpatient colleagues, this recognition is for all of us as a team, not just me. Well done to us all for the hard work we put into running all the clinics.”
Richard Smith, Key Account Manager at ISS and chair of this month’s judging panel, added: “Elizabeth is a deserving winner of the LGT Star of the Month award for her exceptional care and compassion. Her actions ensured a vulnerable young adult received the help they needed, exemplifying the values LGT celebrates.”
