Major gas works near QEH from 2 November 2020 for five weeks
Major gas works start on Monday 2 November 2020 at Woolwich Common Road and Nightingale Place, close to Queen Elizabeth Hospital. They are expected to last for approximately five weeks. Please allow extra time for your journey to the hospital.
Old metal gas mains will be replaced with hard-wearing plastic to ensure a safe supply of gas to the area, and this will result in the following disruptions to local traffic:
- Nightingale Place will be limited in both directions at the junction with the A205 Woolwich Common and Woolwich New Road
- Slip road closed from the A205 Woolwich New Road into Nightingale Place, preventing a left-hand turn
- A diversion will be in place via Academy Road > Woolwich Common > Herbert Road and Plumstead Common Road.
You will still be able to turn right from Nightingale Road onto A205 Woolwich New Road at this junction.
