Local author brings smiles with new book

Edwin Lampert, founder of Lewisham children’s charity The Brun Bear Foundation, has donated copies of his new book 'The Adventures of Brunhilfer and Brunfin: The Flood' to University Hospital Lewisham’s Children’s Inpatients department.

The book sees two bears, Brunhilfer and Brunfin, go on a number of magical adventures around their community. Amazingly, the characters are based on the true story of Edwin’s father, who had brain cancer that led him to believe his family shared their house with two brown bears.

Edwin explains more: “He was very aware of his condition – he said “when I go, your job is to look after the bears.” So I set up The Brun Bear Foundation in his memory.

“We’ve been working with University Hospital Lewisham for a while now and we’re so pleased to carry on this relationship – when you do something like this, you realise just how many good people are out there.”

You can order 'The Adventures of Brunhilfer and Brunfin: The Flood' here. All proceeds from every sale go to The Brun Bear Foundation.

The Brun Bear Foundation supports charities and projects focused on medical research into infant and childhood illnesses; animal welfare with particular emphasis on bears; and community projects across Lewisham and Bromley.

We’d like to thank Edwin and the foundation for their generosity and look forward to working with them more in the future.
