LGT celebrates first WCSH Health Equity and Pride Awards

As part of our Black History Month celebrations, TeamLGT  hosted the first-ever  Women, Children, and Sexual Health (WCSH) Health Equity and Pride Awards, honouring our colleagues who are driving change, championing inclusion, and improving
health outcomes across our services.

The event brought together colleagues from across LGT to celebrate those who stand proudly in promoting equity, compassion, and better care for all our  communities. Guests enjoyed inspiring presentations, heartfelt reflections, home-cooked food prepared by staff, and plenty of smiles in our selfie frames.

We were delighted to welcome Nina Khazaezadeh, Regional Chief Midwife for London, who presented awards and congratulated our winners for their leadership and commitment to equity in healthcare.

Attendees also shared reflections on our  Messages of Power and Pride wall, leaving words that captured the spirit of the day: 'LGT and proud', 'This feels like a real change', 'changing and challenging the narrative', and 'If nothing else, just be kind'.

Shirley Peterson, Divisional Director of Midwifery, Nursing and Governance, said:  “What makes these awards so special is the people behind them the colleagues who show up every day to challenge inequality and make a difference. Their work is changing lives, shaping fairer services, and showing what true leadership looks like.  Congratulations  to all our winners, nominees, and everyone who continues to make LGT a place where equity, compassion, and community thrive and I couldn’t be prouder.”
