Lachhemi Rana shortlisted for prestigious global award

Lachhemi Rana, Pharmacy Team Administrator at Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH), has been shortlisted for the  Inspirational Story Award at the  International Forum on Quality & Safety in Healthcare,  taking place in Oslo this March.

Alongside her role at QEH, Lachhemi undertakes an range of voluntary work, supporting diverse communities both in the UK and internationally. Her dedication, compassion and commitment to improving patient care have earned her this prestigious international recognition.

The award celebrates individuals whose personal journeys in healthcare quality and safety have inspired others and driven meaningful change. It forms part of the Global Top 30 Improvers Awards, launched for the 2026 Oslo conference to honour those shaping the future of healthcare.

Highlights from Lachhemi's inspiring journey:

  • Champion for inclusion and language equity:  Supporting ethnic minority communities to access healthcare, legal and social services in the UK and Hong Kong.
  • Award-winning radio producer and presenter:  Created and hosted Nepalese-language health programmes in Hong Kong, empowering thousands with vital health information and winning a Top Ten Best Radio Programme Award.
  • Public health advocate:  raised awareness of occupational health, vaccinations and preventive healthcare, improving access to services for underserved communities.
  • Youth mentor and community leader:  Inspired children through dance, education, motivational speaking and confidence-building initiatives, winning multiple dance and creativity awards.
  • Author and published writer:  Produced articles and books addressing language barriers, inclusivity and empowerment.
  • Policy influencer:  Engaged with senior policymakers, including Hong Kong government leaders, to champion inclusivity and representation.
  • Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Linguists (CIOL):  Recognised for leadership and service to language communities.
  • NHS Flu Fighter campaign ambassador:  Supporting flu vaccination awareness across diverse communities.
