Congratulations to Gertrude Ngoloyi, Staff Nurse in the Emergency Department at University Hospital Lewisham, who is our first winner of the 2026 LGT Star of the Month programme.

Gertrude was nominated 19 times for the Superstar Award, and here's why:

“Gertrude is an exceptional nurse whose compassion, dedication, and professionalism shine every day in the Emergency Department. She goes above and beyond for her patients, ensuring they are comfortable, safe, and treated with dignity, no matter their situation. She pays special attention to vulnerable patients making sure their needs are met with care and respect.

Her commitment extends beyond patient care. Gertrude is always among the first to arrive and the last to leave, supporting her colleagues and mentoring junior colleagues. Gertrude was met with applause and congratulations from her colleagues and was presented with a certificate and a £100 voucher from LGT and £10 food and drink voucher, generously sponsored by Gaff.

Gertrude said:" I can't believe I have won LGT Star of the Month, I am shocked. I love my job and working with such wonderful patients and colleagues. I also want to say a huge thank you to all my amazing Emergency Department colleagues."
