Fight the Bite: Help protect our communities this summer

As the summer holiday season gets underway, we're delighted to share that Fight the Bite is now live across TeamLGT. While the campaign officially launched on World Malaria Day, all of our resources are now in place to help keep our communities safe before they travel.

Across Lewisham, Greenwich and Bexley, you'll start to see the campaign on bus stops, in local pharmacies, on refuse trucks and across social media over the next month. We've also launched a dedicated malaria webpage featuring a TeamLGT travel safe checklist, myth-busters and a downloadable A5 leaflet to help share this important message.

Dr Anand Odedra, Consultant in Infectious Diseases and Microbiology, said: "Malaria is a serious but preventable disease. Taking a few simple steps before you travel, getting the right health advice, taking antimalarial medication where recommended and protecting yourself from mosquito bites can dramatically reduce your risk of getting malaria. We want everyone to enjoy their trip and return home safely."

Nearly all malaria cases treated at LGT are preventable. Whether you're travelling yourself or supporting patients who are, please help spread the word: don't wait until you travel, Fight the Bite and protect yourself before you go.

Visit the new malaria webpage, download the A5 leaflet and share the resources with colleagues, patients, friends and family.
