Corridor closure at University Hospital Lewisham: Delay to reopening

The corridor linking the Green Zone and Orange Zone at University Hospital Lewisham (UHL) has been out of action this week to allow for urgent flooring works to take place.

Regrettably, the water damage to the floor is more extensive than first thought, and has also affected some of the walls in this area.

As such, we can confirm that this corridor will continue to be out of use and inaccessible for at least the whole of next week (17 to 23 June). We will work with our partners Equans to confirm the end date of the works as soon as we possibly can.

Green Zone hosts our Maternity and other health services for women and birthing people, and the Orange Zone is where our Riverside building and medical wards are found. Click here to see our main map of UHL.

Getting around while the corridor is closed

Upon arrival at the main entrance of the hospital, patients and visitors will be redirected to the Green Zone via the ambulance entrance, turning left at the dermatology clinic and then right into the main building (via the Pink Zone entrance where Audiology is located).

The entrance to the Green Zone/Maternity through the car park on Albacore Crescent is unaffected and can be used.

Here are some maps (click to download) showing routes to take during the closure:

Large signs will also be in place at various key points to help you get to where you need to go. Some of our colleagues will be positioned around the Main Entrance at busy times and whenever possible to advise patients and visitors.

We apologise for any inconvenience caused by this closure and the works.
