BREAKING: Stadium Road, Woolwich reopened

12.41pm, 4 August 2026:
Due to a number of small fires that have broken out on Woolwich Common, police have closed Stadium Road to all access while the fires are dealt with.
As this is the main access road to Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Woolwich (QEH) please do be aware of the ongoing situation if you need to visit us and make alternative travel plans to the hospital as needed.
While the fires do not pose any imminent risk to QEH itself, London Fire Brigade are on the scene and are liaising with some of our QEH site colleagues to manage the impact to our services.
We will update this page with any traffic management that is put in place to help with access to the QEH site. Thank you for your patience as this emergency response is carried out.
