Why choose us?

If you need to go to hospital to see a specialist, you have the right to choose which hospital you're referred to by your GP.

You can choose a hospital according to what matters most to you, whether it’s location, infection rates, waiting times, patient feedback, clinical performance or anything else.

We will update the performance section with the latest information on how we are performing as an organisation.  You can also contact lg.communications@nhs.net for more information.  Some key points to consider are:

There is easy access to our services

All of our hospitals and community sites are very easy to get to by public transport, and are served by a number of buses and trains. 13 different buses stop outside or close to University Hospital Lewisham, and seven buses provide access to Queen Elizabeth Hospital.

In Lewisham, we also provide community services in clinics around the borough and in patients' homes.

We are committed to treating patients in the right environment

We realise how important it is to be treated in the right environment. Patients at both University Hospital Lewisham and Queen Elizabeth Hospital benefit from new and improved facilities, including state-of-the-art birth centres and new ambulatory care centres.

We provide specialist services

We provide a wide range of specialist clinic across our hospitals and community sites. These include a number of clinics that serve the whole of South East London, and some that receive referrals from across the UK.

We listen to patients and partners

We listen to patients and work with GPs and other partners to develop and improve our services.  If you would like to get involved, we want to hear from you and hope you will join us as a member.
