Patient Welfare Forum

Lewisham Patient Welfare Forum is a voluntary organisation set up and run by a growing group of dedicated volunteers at University Hospital Lewisham.

The main aim of the group is to act as a helpful friend to both the patients staying at the hospital and staff who work in the hospital.

To do this effectively, we visit all wards on a monthly basis in rotation to talk to patients, staff and visitors about their stay in the hospital and their thoughts and views on the hospital.

We take into account things that give the patient the ‘feel-good factor’, which in turn helps speed up their recovery and definitely gives the patient a ‘home from home’ comfortable experience whilst staying in UHL. We taste the food, examine the bed sheets, and generally make sure that everything at the hospital is as clean and restful as could be.

Following our visit we write up a report which is circulated to staff for their consideration and comments.

The team also attends various committees and discussions that take place in the hospital, from complaints to Arts, to comment on the patient’s behalf.

If you would like to volunteer to join us or require any further information please do get in touch with Jan Ferrrari, Chair at janferrari25@gmail.com
