The department is involved in diagnostic testing of a very wide range of conditions and 70% of diagnoses depend on pathology testing. The service performs diagnostic testing to a large number of departments within the hospital, outpatient clinics and primary care.
The department encompasses a wide range of disciplines and services including:
- Haematology and blood transfusion - 24/7 service
- Clinical biochemistry - 24/7 service
- Histology.
Location
The Pathology Department is located on the 1st and 2nd Floors of the Pathology Block in the Pink Zone at University Hospital Lewisham.
Mortuary: Located at the south end of the site (near Albacore Crescent). There is a car park close by.
