Healthcare Assistant Pam Cooper wins first Employee of the Month award at Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust
Pam Cooper, Healthcare Assistant on Cardiology Ward 4 at Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) is the first winner of the new Employee of the Month scheme at the Trust, for July 2019. The Trust’s Equality Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Network was the judging panel for July and selected Pam from a strong field of nominations. Chair of the EDI Network and Clinical and Operational Lead for Bromley Stroke Rehabilitation Team, Manisha Patel said “this was a very difficult decision due to the high number of excellent nominations. Pam embodies the trust values and goes above and beyond her role for both staff and patients”.
Manisha surprised Pam on the ward, announcing her win to all the team, giving Pam a certificate and a fabulous fruit basket, generously donated by Hassan Er who runs the popular fruit stall at the entrance to QEH. Pam said “I have worked at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital for ten years now and I am so overwhelmed and thrilled to have received the first employee of the month award. For me the most important person on this ward is the patient and I am here to help them.”
Pam was nominated by Charlotte Fox, her colleague on the specialist cardiology ward. Charlotte says “patients respond well to the care Pam gives and they clearly trust her, which improves the quality of care they receive. She is a joy to work with.”
Employee of the Month will be running throughout the year, and all entries all also put forward for the annual Trust staff awards, to be held in March 2020. Each month a different staff group will be the judging panel.
Also awarded at the annual Trust staff awards is a special prize for a Healthcare Hero nominated by patients and the public. Nominations for Healthcare Hero will open shortly and details of how to nominate staff at the Trust will be available soon on their website www.lewishamandgreenwich.nhs.uk.
