Free bike while you stop smoking

Our stop smoking team is involved in a project that offers a free bike to help you quit smoking. The scheme is being run in conjunction with an organisation called Peddle My Wheels, the Population Health team and the Active Travel team at Lewisham Council.

You are more likely to successfully give up smoking if you increase the amount of physical activity at the time of your quit attempt. Stopping smoking and increasing physical activity are among the top actions you can take to improve your health and reduce the chance of being readmitted to hospital.

We are offering this scheme to current smokers who have been admitted into hospital for any reason in the last 6 months but more than 6 weeks ago. There are 18 spaces available on a first come, first served basis. To be eligible for this scheme you must live, work or study in the London Borough of Lewisham, or be registered at a Lewisham GP.

To take part you would need to sign up to stop smoking with our stop smoking service and then you can get a free bike for 12 weeks. To refer yourself to the Lewisham Stop Smoking team please email your details (name/DOB/phone number) to LG.SmokingReferrals@nhs.net. Alternatively, you can call 0800 0820 388 to book an appointment.

For more information please see the attached information sheet from Peddle My Wheels.
