Huge congratulations to student midwife Claire Axcell who has won the British Journal of Midwifery (BJM) award for Student Midwife of the Year.
Claire (pictured here with her award alongside Midwifery Practice Based Clinical Facilitator and Supervisor of Midwives Vikki Coleman and Liz Gale, Senior Lecturer Midwifery, University of Greenwich) is a 2nd year University of Greenwich student on the Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) site.
Vikki Coleman said: "We are all incredibly proud of this achievement, whilst it is Claire that has won it is also testament to the fantastic mentoring that our midwives give. It is particularly special as this is the second year running that a UoG / QEH (Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust) student midwife has won this award".
Claire has been praised for her enthusiasm, a great willingness to always volunteer and help others, for seeking out different perspectives and her understated and understanding approach. Some photos of the event can been seen in the read more gallery.
