HIV is a treatable infection these days – that's why we encourage everyone to take an HIV test from time to time, as people getting sick from HIV or developing AIDS can be prevented. Treatment for people who haven't needed it before can be as simple as one pill per day – with surprisingly few side-effects.
HIV medications need to be taken every day and sometimes this can be difficult. We have a specialist pharmacist who is here to help. For interactions between HIV medications and other drugs check out www.hiv-druginteractions.org
People with HIV can sometimes feel a little low or depressed, or may have problems with their memory. We have a psychologist who can help – ask your doctor or nurse if you would like to be referred.
